Anfrage am 02.12.2022 an inforubettes@gmail.com Subject: Technical Project: Digitizing Vinyl via Optical Scanner Hi, during the past 3 months or so I was doing some technical project: putting an old vinyl onto a current flatbed scanner and scanning the vinyl with the highest possible resolution. Then after having scanned the vinyl in 16 different positions / angles I've started doing an 'image analysis'. The current result of this 'analysis' is an audio file which contains the sound recorded on the vinyl. The sound quality, though, is quite a bit away from what we hear from a 'real turntable' or even a CD but you can hear the sound. For my tests I've used the song 'OOH - LA - LA' from State Record Limited from 1977. Now my question is: would I be allowed to put the scans, my analysis program which I wrote and the final sound files for instance coded as MP3 onto my page for the public or would this be in conflict with some legal regulations concerning ownership or such. I'd be very happy if this was possible because I think this was / is an interesting project and other people might also be interested in it. It is of course NOT my intention to illegally redistribute music where I do not have the distribution rights. So if there was some 'easy official' way for me this would be great! Maybe final question: is this the right address for me at all (inforubettes@gmail.com) or should I refer to different people with my question? I just found the address on this page: https://rubettesfeaturingalanwilliams.com/ And since I read 'Richardson/Williams' on the vinyl I thought I might have found the correct web page. BR R. You will need to send your request to Universal Music who are now the copyright owners of recordings by State Records and their parent company Polydor Records. Good luck. Liz.
